Volkswagen's latest Golf has been on sale in the UK for less than two years; however, the German firm is already tinkering with the line-up and has launched a new trim level: the Match.
Designed to replace the SE trim in the Golf line-up, the Match comes with more standard kit than its predecessor, but at no extra cost.
The new equipment available on the Golf Match includes front and rear parking sensors, front fog lights, 16-inch 'Dover' alloy wheels and a 'mirror pack', which includes automatically-folding door mirrors with puddle lights and reverse-activating dipping on the nearside.
Opting for the new Match model over the lesser S trim brings a range of extra features, including Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Assist and City Emergency Braking, a Driver Alert System, PreCrash preventive occupant protection, Driver Profile Selection, automatic wipers, an automatically dimming rear-view and automatic lights.
The Golf Match is available with a 1.4-litre 120bhp petrol engine, with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG gearbox, a 1.6-litre 104bhp diesel with five-speed manual and seven-speed DSG gearboxes, and a 148bhp 2.0-litre diesel, with a choice of six-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.
The Golf Match is available to order now, with prices starting from £19,680 for a three-door with the 1.4-litre petrol engine and a manual gearbox, rising to £24,120 for a 2.0-litre diesel DSG in five-door form.
