Toyota has opened the order books for the new 2014 Yaris and Yaris hybrid, which features a tweaked and simplified model line-up and a more efficient diesel engine.
The Yaris is now available in four trim levels: Active, Icon, Icon Plus and Trend, while the Yaris Hybrid is available in all of these trims except Icon.
Basic Active models begin at £10,895 and come with electric front windows, stability and traction control, seven airbags, a six-speaker audio system with aux-in and USB and audio controls on the steering wheel. Icon models start from £13,970 and add 15-inch alloys, electric heated door mirrors, a rear view camera, a rev counter, air-conditioning, a leather steering wheel and gear stick and Bluetooth.
Moving up the range, Icon Plus models start from £12,820 and get special 'Selena' 15-inch alloys, front fog lights, automatic lights and wipers, LED rear lights, dual-zone climate control, electric rear windows, cruise control with speed limiter and an air-conditioned glove box.
Top-of-the-line Trend models start from £14,995 and get 16-inch alloys, extra chrome trim, rear privacy glass, a leather handbrake and steering wheel with yellow stitching and unique interior trim with white dashboard inserts.
Toyota has also tweaked the 1.4-litre diesel engine available on Icon Plus models, bringing its CO2 emissions down from 104g/km to 99g/km. This entitles the Yaris to free road tax under VED band A.
