Toyota's in-house tuning shop, Toyota Racing Development, has created a limited edition version of the Toyota GT86, which goes on sale here in the UK next month.
And the first thing we need to point out is that the Toyota GT86 TRD is not a high-performance, tuned version of the standard car. Under the bonnet you get the same 2.0-litre boxer engine producing the same 197bhp and giving the same 0-62mph time of 7.7 seconds (8.4 seconds in automatic guise) as the standard car.
Instead of fiddling around with the car's engine, what Toyota Racing Development has done is given the GT86 a visual makeover. On the outside you get 18-inch alloys, deep front and side skirts, a rear bumper spoiler, a rear diffuser and FOUR -- count them, four -- exhausts.
In addition to this, the GT86 TRD comes with a TRD-branded fuel filler cap, radiator cap and gear lever and is available in a choice of two colours: Pearl White and GT86 Black.
All of this TRD trinketry doesn't come cheap and GT86 TRD costs £31,495 in manual guise and £32,995 with the automatic gearbox.
Only 250 Toyota GT86 TRDs will be coming to the UK and order books open on 1 March.
So, would you be tempted to spend an extra six-and-a-half grand on TRDing your GT86, or would you stick with the standard model?
