Toyota has announced the pricing and specification details for the new Verso compact MPV.
The new Verso, which was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show back in September, features the latest Toyota design language introduced on the new Auris. Angular headlamp units and a narrow full-width grille differentiate the new Verso from its predecessor and the new car also gets redesigned door mirrors and wheels.
Toyota claims that it has improved the quality of the cabin materials and introduced a "consistent approach to the lighting and graphics used for the instruments and controls."
The Verso's engine range remains largely unchanged; however, Toyota has improved the 2.0 D-4D engine, improving torque delivery at low revs and cutting CO2 emissions by 10g/km.
Three trim levels are on offer: Active Icon and Excel. Active spec includes an MP3-compatible CD player with USB and aux in, electric front windows, air-con, daytime running lights, front fog lights, Hill-Start Assist and a rear spoiler.
Icon trim adds 16-inch alloys, Bluetooth, electric rear windows, cruise control, DAB radio, rear privacy glass, dual-zone climate control, a rear-view camera and a leather steering wheel and gear knob.
Top-of-the-range Excel models get 17-inch alloys, part leather seats, rain sensing wipers, Bi-xenon HID headlights, auto-dimming rear-view mirror and automatic and dusk-sensing lights.
Prices for the new Toyota Verso start from £17,495 for the Active 1.6 petrol five-seater, rising to £23,445 for the 2.0-litre Excel diesel seven-seater.
The Verso is available to order now and the first customer delivers are slated for mid-January 2013.
