A 1911 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost is going up for auction next month and is expected to fetch between £450,000 and £550,000.

The Silver Ghost was named the 'best car in the world' by Autocar magazine in 1907 and this model is fitted with a 7.5-litre engine which develops... wait for it... 50bhp. Wow!

The Roller was restored in 2001 and is a 'museum quality example'. It's also extremely rare -- only 7,874 Silver Ghosts were ever made and the vast majority of these have either rotted away or been preserved as showroom exhibits.

The Silver Ghost goes under the hammer on 1st September at Brooklands.

We're guessing that you're probably not considering buying the old Rolls; however, this got us thinking. What is the best car in the world? If you'd like to nominate any current car for the title, comment below.
