In a world first, designers from MINI have joined forces with a leading surfboard manufacturer to develop a board which they say ‘surfs like a MINI’.

The short and sporty design is called simply “THE MINI”, and has been produced by world-renowned surfboard maker Channel Islands Surfboards. The team working on the project included MINI’s Head of Exterior Design Christopher Weil and US Open surfing champion Kalani Robb. The brief was to produce a board which reflects MINI’s best attributes, right down to customisation options which include a range of stylish colours and schemes from Chili Red to black rally stripes.

“To create this feeling of agility and speed, we’ve developed a board with a little extra tail volume,” said Robb. “The board’s wider outline and low rocker really make it fly.”

To celebrate the surfboard’s launch, MINI UK has partnered with the North Devon-based Croyde Surf Academy, who provide lessons to surfers of all ages and abilities.

Channel Islands Surfboards have made “THE MINI” available to purchase at selected retailers and via its own online shop priced from £580.
