Available from April, the smart fortwo has had a make-over for 2012 and features a new exterior look and an upgraded interior.
The vehicle has had a substantial makeover to create what smart believe is a ‘markedly more dynamic appearance.’
Key features on the revamped exterior include a larger radiator grille with integrated logo, horizontally arranged LED daytime driving lights and muscular side skirts with modified rear aprons.
The five smart lines – pure, pulse, passion, BRABUS and BRABUS Xclusive – are all set to be retained for 2012. Similarly, the smart fortwo will continue to be available as a coupé and cabrio version and with six engine and motor variants.
Power variants in the range include the electric powered model, a micro hybrid petrol engine, as well as a turbo petrol engine and the fuel efficient cdi turbodiesel.Since 1998 more than 1.3 million smart fortwos have been sold. In 2011 101,996 smart fortwos were sold – a 4.6 percent increase on the previous year.
Prices begin at € 10,275 (£8,541.16) for the smart fortwo 45 kW mhd pure.
"The way in which the fortwo now displays the smart logo more prominently stands for the brand's new self-confidence," says smart boss Dr Annette Winkler.
"The smart fortwo has long become an icon that is a defining feature of urban traffic throughout the world."
