Ferrari is mourning the loss of Sergio Scaglietti, the creator of some of Ferrari's most famous cars, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 91.

Scaglietti was responsible for some of Ferrari's most iconic models such as the 250 Testa Rossa, the 250 GTO and the original California. Scaglietti founded his coachbuilding firm in 1951 and was a good friend of the late Ferrari founder, Enzo Ferrari. Ferrari now owns Scaglietti's old factory and used it until recently to produce the 612 Scaglietti.

Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemolo said, "Sergio Scaglietti leaves behind the legacy of an artist who with his talent created some of the most beautiful cars of our history. Who had the luck to know him like I did will also remember him as a straightforward and honest man, completely dedicated to his work. We will miss him."
