The popular seven seat people carrier from Spanish car maker SEAT has added another award to its collection, this time taking home the title of Best Large MPV at the first annual CarBuyer Awards.

The practical yet luxurious SEAT Alhambra was launched in the UK at the end of 2010, and has already won a great deal of critical acclaim. Now it can add a new title to its list of achievements, having been named as the 'Best Large MPV' in the inaugural CarBuyer awards. This list already includes the title of MPV of the Year, which it won in the What Car? awards earlier this year, and several other trophies won in Portugal and Germany.

The SEAT Alhambra is priced from £22,800 and comes in three different trim levels: S, SE and SE Lux. It also comes with a choice of a turbocharged petrol or diesel engine, either of which can be combined with a six-speed manual transmission or a sports style 6-speed auto which offers the extra option of sequential manual operation using paddle shifts located on the steering wheel.

The entry level Alhambra S comes with a good level of standard equipment that includes start/stop and brake energy recovery systems to increase fuel efficiency, three-zone climate control, and parking sensors on both the front and the rear.

Upgrading to the SE trim brings the addition of features like automatic lights and windscreen wipers which use sensors to tell when it is raining and when it is getting dark, an auto-dimming rear view mirror, 17 inch alloy wheels, cruise control, and High Beam Assist.

Going a step further to the top SE Lux trim level adds a range of luxury touches like black leather upholstery, electric rear side doors and tailgate, rear view camera, a panoramic glass sunroof and satellite navigation system.
