Peugeot has revealed its fastest ever road car: the 260bhp RCZ R.
The launch of the RCZ R also coincides with the release of a mid-life facelift across the RCZ range.
The RCZ R has been developed in conjunction with the motorsport division of Peugeot, and is powered by the same 1.6-litre engine fitted to the standard car. However, the engine has been tuned to develop 260bhp, making it the most powerful road-going Pug ever made.
Despite the extra power, however, the RCZ R will emit just 155g/km of CO2.
Peugeot has also been fiddling with the RCZ's suspension, and the RCZ R sits closer to the ground than the standard car. It also gets a limited-slip diff to help the front wheels plant the power on the road.
The standard RCZ features a new front grille, tweaked LED headlights and a larger central air intake with chrome bars.
The engine line-up remains unchanged and includes a 1.6-litre petrol engine developing either 154bhp or 197bhp, and a 2.0-litre oil burner which produces 161bhp.
The new RCZ goes on sale in early 2013, with the R version arriving later on in the year.
