A special launch edition of the new Peugeot 208 GTi has been confirmed for next spring.
The 208 GTi Limited Edition, on display at this week's Paris Motor Show, will be offered alongside the standard GTi when it goes on sale here in the UK in May 2013, with prices starting from £20,495.
Peugeot is emphasising the genetic link between the new 208 GTi and the legendary 205 GTi of the 1980s, and this is reflected in the planned production numbers. 54 GTi Limited Editions will be produced, of which 29 are destined for the UK market -- one for every year since the old 205 GTi was launched in 1984.
All 208 GTi Limited Editions will be individually numbered from 01 to 29, and will come with exclusive satin pearlescent white paint and 17-inch 'Carbon Onyx Black' alloy wheels.
In addition to this, all cars will feature a Union Jack on the lower grille, which Peugeot claims symbolises "the importance of the GTi badge to the UK."
On the inside, all 208 GTi Limited Editions will come with sat-nav and DAB digital radio as standard.
