Nissan is set to reveal the production version of the Juke Nismo at the Le Mans 24 hour race this weekend, alongside the pioneering DeltaWing racer and the Juke-R.
The Nismo concept was revealed to the public at the Geneva Motor Show in March and Nissan has changed very little in turning the concept car into a full-production model.
The Nismo has a more aggressive appearance than the standard Juke thanks lower front and rear bumpers, wings and side-skirts, and wide 18-inch alloys. The new model features aerodynamic enhancements such as a modified grille and rear spoiler which Nissan claims reduce front and rear lift without creating drag.
Under the bonnet, the Nismo is fitted with a 1.6-litre turbocharged direct injection petrol engine. There is no word yet on how much power the Nismo will produce but the fact that Nissan has stiffened the suspension and improved the steering and traction control suggests that the Nismo is likely to be a bit of a beast.
Inside, the Nismo is fitted with suede-trimmed sports seats with red stitching, a redesigned steering wheel and gear knob, along with new pedals, gauges and door trims.
The Nismo will be built at Nissan's Sunderland factory and will go on sale across Europe in January 2013. More details will be announced closer to launch.
