Seat has unveiled the new look Leon model, which will be released early next year.

The update includes sharper styling on the front and rear bumpers, wider chrome-finished front grille, and full LED lighting on the outside. That theme continues inside with the addition of fully-adjustable LED interior lighting.

A range of driver assistance and safety systems have been added, including Traffic Jam Assist which – in conjunction with Lane Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control - accelerates and brakes the Leon automatically within the limits of the system, while at up to 37 mph it provides assistance with speed while keeping the car in the correct lane. Meanwhile, the Pedestrian Protection System recognises both vehicles and pedestrians. Other new systems include Traffic Sign Recognition, Blind Spot Detection, Emergency Assist, High Beam Assist, and a parking assistance system for both bay and parallel parking, with the systems package aided by improved cameras.

Highlights of the new Leon’s connectivity systems include SEAT ConnectApp with voice recognition and gesture control, accessed via the Media System Plus’ eight-inch touchscreen. SEAT Full Link enables connectivity for most smartphones, incorporating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto function, while a centre console mounted Connectivity Box provides wireless charging. For areas with low satellite reception, the system also comes equipped with a GSM signal booster.

The UK range will comprise of five trim levels; S, SE Dynamic, SE Technology, FR, and XCELLENCE. The latter is an all-new trim level, which includes optional Alcantara/Leather upholstery, multi-colour ambient interior LED lighting, aluminium XCELLENCE kickplate, Keyless Enter, and Keyless Go.

A variety of EU6 compliant engines are available to choose from, in both petrol and diesel form, while the range includes five- or six-speed manual gearboxes all well as double-clutch DSG transmission with six- or seven-speeds. 

Five-door, Sports Coupé, Sports Tourer, will be available at launch, with a new Leon CUPRA model to follow.
