This is the new Porsche 911 GT3, the latest incarnation of Porsche's track-focussed 911, which is on display at the Geneva Motor Show.
And the big news is that, while the old GT3 was fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox, Porsche has decided that the new model should have a seven-speed PDK flappy-paddle job as standard. This is a decision which is likely to have what is known as 'a mixed reaction' among 911 purists.
The power comes from a 468bhp 3.8-litre flat-six which, thanks in part to the new PDK gearbox, propels the GT3 from 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 196mph.
In fact, the new GT3 is so fast that it can lap the Nurburgring in 7min 30sec. That's 3 seconds faster than a Ferrari 458 Italia.
The new GT3 is based on the latest, 991 generation of Porsche 911 and comes with a new engine, gearbox, chassis and body. Porsche has used aluminium extensively in the car's production, producing a car which is both 25 per cent stiffer than its predecessor and, at just 1,430kg, 13 per cent lighter.
New technology fitted to the GT3 includes an active rear-wheel steering system, which steers in the opposite direction to the front wheels at low speeds to aid manoeuvrability, and the same direction as the front wheels at high speeds to provide stability.
The 911 GT3 is on sale now, with prices starting from £100,540. The first deliveries will arrive in November.
