Citroen has released the first official pictures of the new C4 Grand Picasso which is set to go on sale in the UK early next year.
The C4 Grand Picasso is based upon the same EMP2 platform which underpins the new Peugeot 308 and the standard C4 Picasso. Thanks to the use of lightweight materials, the new model weighs around 100kg less than its predecessor. It's also more spacious inside despite being no longer than the outgoing model, thanks to a longer wheelbase.
Citroen claims that the C4 Grand Picasso is so spacious that it offers the most spacious second and third rows of seats in the seven-seat class. The French firm also claims that it offers the most accessible third row of seats in the class and the widest boot, measuring 1.17m from wheel arch to wheel arch.
The Grand Picasso will be available with three diesel engines from launch. The smallest of these, the e-HDi 90 Airdream, emits just 98g/km of CO2 and returns 74.3mpg. Moving up the range, the e-HDi 115 can achieve 70.6mpg and emits 105g/km of CO2. There's also a new BlueHDi 150 engine too, which emits 110g/km of CO2. At least one petrol engine will be available from launch too.
All engines will be available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox.
On the outside, the C4 Grand Picasso gets a new front end which features a Citroen chevron grille which totally surrounds the LED daytime running lights. The Grand Picasso also gets distinctive new tail lights, a new roof bar design and a panoramic windscreen. A full glass roof is available as an option.
Standard equipment across the C4 Grand Picasso range includes alloy wheels, a panoramic windscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, air-conditioning and a touchscreen display.
