Mercedes-Benz have announced a number of changes to its E-Class range, including the introduction of a new 9G-Tronic gearbox which has helped lower the cars’ CO2 emissions.
The 9G-Tronic will be available across the E-Class range paired to the E 350 BlueTEC engine, with reductions of up to 17g/km in CO2 emissions while increasing power by 6bhp to a new total of 258bhp.
Elsewhere in the E-Class range, developments to the E 220 BlueTEC engine have seen power increased from 170bhp to 177bhp, while lowering CO2 emissions by up to 16k/km. The Mercedes-Benz E 220 BlueTE SE saloon now offers a range best of 116g/km in CO2 emissions.
Other changes see the standard fitting of Collision Prevention Assist Plus across the E-Class range, a system which provides audio-visual warnings when a head-on collision is imminent, adaptive brake boosting, and automatic braking to reduce the severity of impact with slower or stopping vehicles. The system can also brake in response to stationary vehicles at speeds up to 30 mph and prevent rear-end collisions at speeds of up to 24 mph.
New packages introduced offer significant savings over selecting optional extras individually. The Premium Package for the E-Class saloon adds a Panoramic Glass Sunroof, memory package, rear split-folding Seats, and a reversing camera, all for £2,695. The new Premium Plus Package adds Keyless-GO Comfort Pack and a Harman Kardon sound system for £3,895. Costs for the E-Class Estate are £2,395 and £3,495 for the Premium and Premium Plus Packages respectively, as Mercedes already offer the split folding seats and powered tailgate as standard.
