Land Rover has launched a new limited-edition Defender to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the start of Series 1 Land Rover production.
The Defender LXV takes its name from the number 65 in Roman numerals, and is based on the two-door Defender 90 Hard Top. It comes with a 2.2-litre diesel engine, which develops 120bhp and 266lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
The LXV also gets a number of special features exclusive to this model, including 16-inch Sawtooth alloy wheels and a unique Santorini Black paint finish with contrasting Corris Grey roof. On the inside, the LXV gets full leather seats with contrasting orange stitching, LXV-embossed headrests and a smattering of LXV decals.
Just 65 LXVs will be made for the British market, each costing from £28,765.
The first Land Rover rolled off the production lines on 30 April 1948, making the marque sixty-five years old today. To mark the anniversary, Land Rover is hosting a celebratory event at the Packington Estate in Meriden, Warwickshire, at which more than 130 heritage Land Rovers will be on display.
