Suzuki have released the pricing and spec details for the new Baleno, which goes on UK sale from the start of next month.

The new Suzuki Baleno range starts from £12,999 for the SZ-T model, powered by the 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine allied to a manual gearbox, with six airbags, 16-inch alloy wheels, HID headlights, air conditioning, satellite navigation, DAB Radio with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, rear privacy glass, cruise control with speed limiter, and front electric windows.

SZ5 models, starting from £13,499, gain automatic climate control, rear electric windows, 4.2 inch central colour trip display, LED rear lights, Adaptive Cruise Control and Radar Brake Support.

The Boosterjet engine debuted at the start of this year in the Suzuki Vitara S, and the manufacturer claims the 1.0-litre version available on the new Baleno offers the same level of power and torque of a normally-aspirated 1.8-litre engine. With Direct Injection turbocharging, the Boosterjet engine produces 109bhp, propelling the Baleno from 0-62mph in 11.4 seconds, or 11 seconds flat with the automatic gearbox option.

Also available is the 1.2-litre Dualjet engine, which in the new Baleno gains Suzuki’s Smart Hybrid Vehicle system including Integrated Starter Generator which uses regenerative energy stored in a compact lithium-ion to restart the engine. The system helps Baleno models fitted with the engine achieve 70.6 mpg combined, with sub-100g/km CO2 emissions.

The new Baleno is the first Suzuki built on a lightweight platform which will be the basis for future models from the company. Combining the use of High Tensile steel and weight-reducing design techniques, the new Baleno is not only lighter than its predecessor but is also the most aerodynamically efficient Suzuki to date. The design also allows for more efficient energy dispersal in the event of a collision.

Smartphone Linkage Display Audio with seven-inch touch panel display is included, as well as a three-dimensional navigation map, and MirrorLink and Apple CarPlay connection.

A 5.9% APR Personal Contract Purchase is available on new Baleno models, with a £1,000 deposit contribution from Suzuki.

The new Suzuki Baleno will go on UK sale from 1 June.
