UK-based manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover is celebrating after sales of its vehicles leapt by almost a quarter last month in comparison to January 2015.

The sales succession came after strong performance in markets across the globe; up by 65% in Europ, 36% in the domestic UK market, 9% in North America, and even up by 5% in China despite the struggling economy.

It was Jaguar’s best January sales performance in just over a decade, with parent company Jaguar Land Rover reaping the rewards of an £11billion investment over the past five years which has seen sales and workforce double, and turnover more than treble. The current financial year will see Jaguar Land  Rover invest another £3billion in products and facilities as it looks to cement its position as one of the UK’s largest exporters, with over 80% of the vehicles it produces here destined for overseas.

Jaguar Land Rover Group Sales Operations Director Andy Goss said: “Following our best full year global sales in 2015, this is a great start to the new year, with very strong performance from both brands and across all of our key regions. Europe and the UK retailed almost 20,000 vehicles this month alone, driven by solid sales of the XE and the Discovery Sport. Similarly, in China market response to the locally-produced Discovery Sport was very positive with retails of almost 3,000 in its second month of sales.”
