Nissan have announced that sales of its British-built Qashqai have now topped the 1,000,000 mark worldwide.

The crossover model made its sales debut at the start of 2007, and has proven to be a success for the Japanese manufacturer, with the Qashai a consistently making the UK top ten best sellers list. UK sales account for over 110,000 units of the Qashqai's overall worldwide sales figures, with European sales as a whole topping a quarter of a million.

The Qashqai's main production facility is at Nissan's Sunderland plant on Wearside, at which over 800,000 have rolled off the production line since December 2006. There are also production facilities in Japan and China for the Qashqai, which underwent a facelift in March 2010.
