The British Mini Club has put a Mini with a special story up for sale.
The unique Mini was bought in 1989 when the company released 3,000 limited edition cars from their Longbridge factory line to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Mini production. A farmer purchased two of them in the hope that they would make a great gift for his sons on turning 21.
In a disappointing turn of fate, both of his sons were too tall to fit into the dinky cars by the time they were old enough to drive them. The only answer was to sell them and the British Mini Club was more than happy to take them off his hands. One of the cars was used as a raffle prize while the Mini in question was stored.
The car is now for sale at £18,000 and has never even been registered since being made.
David Hollis from the British Mini Club said; 'Classic cars are going through the roof at the moment. We are looking for around £18,000 but it may be worth more.
We are seeing Minis go for £20,000 or even £30,000.
The price is constantly on the rise and we’re willing to wait to get the correct price for such an excellent car. Since 1989 it has only done 13 miles. I have driven it on and off a trailer but it has not even been registered.'
