UK order books have opened for the new Fiat 500S, which is priced from £12,950 on-the-road.

Based on the Fiat 500, the 500S gains a sportier image courtesy of new front and rear bumpers, special side skirts and a rear spoiler, and Satin Graphite finish to the door handles, tailgate, mirror fairings, and 15-inch alloy wheels. Standard equipment includes front fog lamps, tinted rear windows, chrome-finish tailpipe, black-grained front air intakes, honeycomb grille, black sport seats, black roof lining, Satin Graphite dashboard details, sports steering wheel, and a full-colour, seven-inch TFT instrument display. The 500S Convertible boasts an electric canvas roof with a heated glass rear window as standard.

Safety features include seven airbags as standard, ABS with Electronic Brake Distribution, and an Electronic Stability Control system with Anti Slip Regulation, Hill Holder and Hydraulic Brake Assistance.

Four engine options are available; the 69hp 1.2-litre petrol and the 85hp 0.9-litre TwinAir petrol engines are both available with a five-speed manual or optional five-speed Dualogic automated manual transmission, while the 105hp 0.9-litre TwinAir petrol is fitted with a 6-speed manual as standard. Diesel power comes in the form of the 95hp 1.3 litre MultiJet II engine which emits just 89g/km of CO2 while offering 83.1mpg combined fuel economy.
