Ferrari has revealed its Formula One car for the forthcoming 2013 season.

The new car's name, F138, commemorates both the year of its introduction and the fact that this is the final year in which V8 engines will be permitted in the sport. Formula One racing makes the transition to smaller, more efficient turbocharged V6 engines next year.

The car was introduced by Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa alongside team principal Stefano Domenicali and Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo.

The most striking visual change to the new car is the removal of the controversial 'duck bill' nose which all of the teams except McLaren used during the 2012 season.

Ferrari will be hoping that the F138 displays more early promise than its predecessor, the F2012, which was 1.5 seconds slower than its main rivals at the beginning of last season. Ferrari last won the Constructors' championship in 2008, and the team has failed to secure the Drivers' title since Kimi Raikkonen won it for them back in 2007.
