Ferrari is taking a novel approach to revealing its new F70 hypercar.
Whereas most manufacturers generally reveal a photograph of the finished car, accompanied by a few technical specs and about 3,500 words of tedious marketing drivel, Ferrari is revealing its Enzo replacement piece by piece.
The latest photograph from Maranello shows the new car's engine bay and, after I'm finished wiping the dribble off my face, I'll give you some details on it.
Basically, it's a hybrid engine, a first for Ferrari. But before you drift off into a catatonic trance, I should point out that it's a hybrid engine... with 920bhp. The F70's V12 is mated to a double-clutch gearbox and two electric motors and will rocket the car to 62mph in 2.5 seconds.
Ferrari has also revealed an image of the Enzo replacement's carbon-fibre passenger tub. Weighing just 70kg, the structure is said to be inspired by Ferrari's involvement in F1, and is 20 per cent stiffer and lighter than the structure found on the old Enzo.
Ferrari has revealed very little else about the new F70, so for the time being we'll just have to imagine what the finished product will look like.
Check back next week for some exclusive photos of the new F70's track rod ends. Probably.
