Chrysler’s new Delta is now on sale in the UK with prices starting from £16,695.
Like the Ypsilon supermini, the Delta is actually a Lancia which has been rebadged for the UK market, and it's certainly a far cry from the legendary Lancia Delta Integrale rally car of the 1980s and 90s.
For 2011, the Delta gets a new grille, a new diesel engine and improved fuel economy and CO2 figures. The engine range now comprises of two 1.4-litre petrols, a 1.6-litre diesel offering 120bhp and 61.4mpg and a 165bhp 2.0-litre diesel returning 55.4mpg. All models come with a six-speed manual gearbox with a semi-automatic 'box being offered on the SE version of 1.6 diesel.
Chrysler claims that the Delta is the most spacious car in its class, offering rear passengers 930mm of legroom and seats that can slide forwards and backwards and recline.
Standard equipment across the line includes a CD player with MP3 connectivity, keyless entry, air-con and electric windows all-round. Optional extras include Sat Nav, radar-guided automatic parking and Lane Depature control which intervenes if the car is driven out of lane on the motorway.
