Images of the new Cadillac CTS have been leaked online ahead of the car's official debut at the New York Motor Show later this week.
Rather than an update or a refresh, Cadillac claims that the new CTS is a 'major redesign', which is designed to help the CTS take on its European rivals, such as the Mercedes E-Class and the BMW 5 Series.
On the outside, the new CTS gets a more aggressive front end, with thin LED headlights which flow into a prominent front bumper, and a revised chrome grille which is similar to the one fitted to the 2009 Converj concept car.
On the inside, the CTS's cabin is clearly inspired by the interior of Cadillac's ELR range extender hybrid, with lashings of wood and leather.
The engine line-up will reportedly include a 272bhp turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit and a naturally-aspirated 321bhp 3.6-litre V6. Flagship models will be available with a new 420bhp twin-turbo 3.6-litre V6 which will give the CTS a sub-five-second 0-62mph time and a top speed of around 170mph.
