BMW is marking the 30th anniversary of the M5 with the unveiling of the most powerful incarnation of the super saloon yet.
Just 300 examples of the new '30 Jahre' M5 limited edition will be made, each of which will be fitted with a lightly tweaked version of the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 fitted to the standard car.
Power is up by 25bhp to 592bhp and torque is up by 15lb-ft to 516lb-ft. As a result of this, the 30 Jahre M5 will get from 0-62mph in just 3.9 seconds -- four tenths quicker than the standard car. The power is sent to the rear wheels through an upgraded version of the standard M5's seven-speed double-clutch gearbox.
Underneath, the 30 Jahre is fitted with the same chassis modifications you get on the existing M5 Competition Package, with firmer springs and dampers and a 10mm reduction in ride height. 20-inch alloy wheels are also fitted as standard.
Looks-wise, there's little to distinguish the 30 Jahre from other models in the M5 range, with some dark chrome accents and subtle badging the only visual changes. Matte Frozen Dark Silver paint is also included.
BMW has yet to confirm whether the M5 30 Jahre will be coming to the UK; however, if it does, expect to pay significantly more than the £80,205 BMW is asking for the standard M5 Competition Pack.
