Bentley has revealed its new Continental GT V8 S ahead of this year's Frankfurt Motor Show.
Available in both coupe and convertible body styles, the new Continental GT V8 S is a more performace-focussed version of the standard Continental GT V8 and will go on sale here in the UK from early next year.
On the outside the changes are subtle. The new car gets a new front splitter, side sill extensions, 20-inch alloys, a rear diffuser and a gloss black finish to the front grille.
The big changes, however, are under the bonnet. The 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine has been carried over from the standard car; however, Bentley has managed to screw an extra 21bhp out of it, bringing the V8 S's total power output up to 521bhp. Torque has also been increased, from 15lb-ft to 502lb-ft.
As a result, the GT V8 S will hit 60mph in 4.3 seconds in coupe guise (down from 4.6 seconds in the standard V8) and 4.5 seconds in convertible form (a 0.2 second improvement). At top speed the coupe will hit 192mph while the convertible will manage 191mph -- a 4mph improvement for both.
The GT V8 S sits 10mm closer to the road than before, and stiffer anti-roll bars and bushes promise to provide sharper handling. The steering has also been tweaked for improved response and greater feedback and the stability control has been given a sportier setup which allows a degree of wheel slip at high speeds.
The power is sent to all four wheels through a close-ration eight-speed automatic gearbox. There's a 40/60 front-rear torque split.
Prices are yet to be confirmed but more information will be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week.
