The new A8 has received a host of styling tweaks, including a revised front end, along with a range of more powerful engines and all-wheel drive.
New front and rear bumpers and a new front grille distinguish the new A8 from its predecessor. The A8 can also now be specified with new Matrix LED technology. Basically, MatrixBeam consists of 25 individual LEDs which can be turned on or off or dimmed independently depending on the situation. This allows the headline system to react to other vehicles while still illuminating the road fully. Additional features of the headlight system include intelligent cornering lights, new-look daytime-running lights and sequential indicators.
At the rear end, the LED rear lights have also been reworked and the new rear bumper features two rhomboid exhaust pipes. There is also a choice of twelve exterior colours, five of which are new, and a range of alloy wheels in sizes up to 21-inches.
The petrol engine range kicks off with a 306bhp 3.0-litre V6 unit and includes a 429bhp 4.0-litre V8 and a 493bhp 6.0-litre W12. The diesel line-up includes a 254bhp 3.0-litre unit and a 380bhp 4.2-litre engine.
In addition to this, there will also be a 2.0-litre petrol hybrid model which will return 44.8mpg and 147g/km of CO2 as well as a hot S8 model, which will get a 513bhp 4.0-litre V8.
The new Audi A8 goes on sale in January 2014.
