Aston Martin - fictional superspy James Bond’s car maker of choice for the past fifty plus years - have launched a £165,000 special edition to celebrate the release of the latest instalment in the film franchise.

Coinciding with the release of the new Bond film Spectre, just 150 examples of the DB9 GT Bond Edition will be produced by Aston Martin.

Finished in unique Spectre Silver paint, the 6.0-litre V12-powered DB9 GT Bond Edition is identified by sterling silver badging with ‘007 Bond Edition’ motif. This builds on the DB9 GT specification which includes ten-spoke gloss black diamond-turned 20-inch alloy wheels, aluminium bonnet vents, side strakes and grille, carbon fibre front splitter, carbon fibre, carbon fibre rear diffuser, and grey brake calipers. Inside the DB9 GT Bond Edition are uniquely numbered 007-badged sill plaques, gun barrel embroidery on the rear seat divider, and a special start-up screen on the touch-sensitive Aston Martin infotainment system, on top of the fluted leather, Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, and satin carbon fibre centre console surround already a feature of the DB9 GT.

With a rear mid-mounted Touchtronic II six-speed transmission the Aston Martin DB9 GT Bond Edition is capable of going from 0-62mph in just 4.5 seconds, to a top speed of 183mph. Handling is boosted by all-round independent double wishbone and a three-stage Adaptive Damping System.

A range of Bond-themed accessories are also available, including 21-inch Globe-Trotter case, or an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m James Bond Limited Edition watch with a unique Aston Martin strap.

In related news, Aston Martin have released video footage of the DB10 which will be used in the new Spectre film, and they have also announced that DB11 will be the name of their next production model for 2016.
