A barn-find Aston Martin DBS is expected to be the star lot of Silverstone Auctions’ next sale on 20th May.
The 1968 example has been gathering dust for the past three decades, but carries an estimate of between £50,000 and £60,000 ahead of the event at the Silverstone race circuit.
Supplied new to its first owner in Novermber 1968, the mink bronze DBS boasted red Connolly leather interior, Motorola Radio, Borg Warner automatic gearbox, power steering, fog and spot lamps, and air conditioning. It was shipped to the Channel Islands in April 1970, and had accumulated just 30,565 miles on the clock when it was retired to a Jersey barn in 1986.
One of just 787 Aston Martin DBSs produced, the car is in near original condition, albeit in need of full restoration.
Speaking ahead of the sale, Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions commented, “This is one of the most exciting barn finds of the year so far. Having been left untouched for the last 30 years this DBS certainly needs restorative care, but to find an iconic car like this one intact with its original features is a fantastic opportunity for someone to acquire a desirable early car, which is prime for restoration or to rebuild to their own specification.”
