Autumn 2014 will see the arrival of the first ever MINI 5-door hatch.
After recently launching the new MINI hatch, the brand have made the decision to release a 5-door version and expand the model range. The original characteristics of the famous and timeless MINI design are still present but with the added functionality and appeal of two extra doors.
MINI have never offered a model with two rear doors and they aim to aim to provide a variant with more legroom and practicality. Those who enjoy extra space in a car will be pleased to know they have increased the legroom available by 72mm and produced a boot space with 278 litres capacity. This represents an increase of 30% in boot space compared to the 3-door hatch.
The extended wheelbase has allowed MINI to pack more into a car which is no wider than the 3-door, though it is 161mm longer and 11mm taller. This has added a valuable 11mm in head room and 61mm of interior width.
The new 5-door hatch range starts at £15,900 OTR and will be built at their plant in Oxford ready to hit UK roads this autumn.
MINI have incorporated a range of technologies to assist the driver including an optional Head-Up-Display, camera based cruise control and collision warning system.
