Infiniti FX 37 GT 5dr - March 2012
Nissan attempt to conquer the luxury 4x4 market... and fail. It's not that the FX 37 is a bad car, it's just ludicrously expensive to buy and run and nowhere near as desirable as its German rivals....
Infiniti FX 30d GT 5dr - March 2012
The FX 30d GT is an interesting choice. Good to drive, good to look at and good to sit in, it's a very good car in a number of areas. However, it is too expensive and, for this money, there are bet...
Infiniti FX 50 S Premium 5dr - March 2012
The FX 50 S Premium is a good car in many ways but, at over 58 grand, it is not good enough to provide a convincing alternative to the BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne. It will also be very expensive to ...

Infiniti FX Overview

Equipped with quick, responsive steering and impressive road grip, the Infiniti FX is an enjoyable car to drive. The ride quality, however, is not nearly as good as that of rivals and the suspension does not absorb bumps or road imperfections very well at all. Refinement is good at low speeds, but road noise increases as the car gets faster and the diesel engine is noisier than rivals.

The car has a very sporty exterior, which is emulated by an incredibly stylish cabin. Head and legroom is decent, but certainly not as spacious as that of rivals. One could be forgiven for expecting a slightly bigger boot, too, although the rear seats can be folded down to create a large loading area. High quality materials are throughout the cabin, and the driver’s seat is electrically adjustable to allow for maximum comfort.

The Infiniti FX comes with an exceptional amount of equipment. Heated leather seats, alloy wheels and an electric sunroof all come as standard.

Background

The Infiniti FX was first produced in 2003.

It was available with two engines, a 3.5 litre V6 and a 4.5 litre V8. The transmission was a 5-speed automatic.

The model received an update in 2006, sporting a restyled exterior and equipped with more technological innovations as standard, including a 7-inch colour display.

The FX has been produced in its second generation since 2009.

The current model uses a 7-speed transmission and is now available with a diesel engine. Moreover, the exterior is more stylish than that of its predecessor and the car features more standard technology.

The FX received a minor update for the 2012 model year.

Summary

The Infiniti FX is an impressive 4x4 that comes with an unrivalled amount of standard equipment. It delivers a smooth and enjoyable driving experience, and makes a great family car.
