Honda Insight 1.3 IMA ES Hybrid 5dr - March 2012
The Honda Insight is a great choice if you regularly drive into London. Otherwise you're better off with a conventional diesel. The Insight's not a bad car, just a little pointless.

Honda Insight Overview

The ride is smooth and refined when driving at economical speeds, although the engine can get fairly noisy as pace picks up. The Insight uses Honda’s ECO ASSIST system to help optimise fuel consumption.

The interior of the car is very attractive, with futuristic designing and user-friendly controls. Legroom is plentiful both for people in the front and rear seats, while headroom is good in the front but can be a little tight in the back. Boot space is generous, and larger than many of its rivals.

An excellent level of equipment is supplied, even with entry level trim models, including climate control, electric windows, alloy wheels and steering wheel-mounted controls for driver convenience. Moreover, the Honda Insight represents good value for money and makes a great family vehicle.

Background

The Honda Insight was produced in its first generation between 1999 and 2006. It was released, following the introduction of the Honda J-VX concept car in 1997, as the first production vehicle to feature the company’s Integrated Motor Assist system.

The 3-door hatchback was only produced as a 2-seater, with the model receiving very few updates over the course of its lifetime.

The Insight entered its second generation in2009, now as a 5-door 5-seater. As well as a restyled exterior and a cabin that boasts more technology than that of its predecessor, the new Insight is the first hybrid from Honda to feature the ECO ASSIST system.

The model received a minor update in 2010 and has been recognised for several awards.

Summary

The Honda Insight Hybrid is an excellent hybrid that boasts good fuel economy and low emissions. It offers a spacious interior and delivers a fun driving experience, making a great family car.
