Chrysler Grand Voyager Car Reviews

The Grand Voyager is a large MPV and probably the most recognised Chrysler on sale in the UK today. It is a very practical vehicle and offers 7-seats as standard. It is powered by a 2.8 litre diesel engine could be considered a little underpowered due to the size of this car. In addition the huge size does have some effect on the handling, with the car suffering from a little body roll.

Chrysler Grand Voyager Overview

Inside the cabin the innovative Stow ‘n’ Go seating system gives the Grand Voyager great versatility, and makes it the most practical in its class. Rather than having three seats in the middle row there are two large seats, with the final row being for three. The middle seats are therefore larger and more comfortable than most MPV’s and although the back may be a bit of a squeeze for seven (though still easier than in most MPV’s), six people will fit very comfortably. The seats all fold flat into the cabin floor too, so it can be transformed from a people carrier to a sizeable van suitable for carrying large luggage. Even with all seats in use it offers a 756 litre boot that is larger than most leading estates.

The finish of the previous Grand Voyager was not up to the standard of the other vehicles in its class, and although there has been an improvement, some of the materials used do fall short of its competitors lacking flair if not practicality. That’s not to say that the current Grand Voyager is without luxury touches, such as the electric sliding doors and tri-zone climate control as standard. There is also a host of optional extras including Swivel ‘n’ Go middle seats that can turn to face the rear passengers.

Background

The Grand Voyager is now in its fifth generation, having entered production in 1988. The latest iteration was introduced in 2008 and carried over the floorplan for the Stow ‘n’ Go seating from the previous model. It also introduced the Swivel ‘n Go system that allowed the middle seats to be turned to face the rear passengers.

Summary

The Grand Voyager offers unrivalled space and versatility thanks to its Stow ‘n’ Go seating system. It is also a luxurious vehicle at an affordable price, making it ideal for a large family.
