Peugeot is a French car manufacturer and part of the Stellantis corporation which also owns Fiat, Citroen and Vauxhall among others. Its current range of models are well known for their bold styling and unique interiors with small SUVs like the Peugeot 2008 a prime example. It also has an ever expanding range of electric cars. You can read more Peugeot reviews here.

Peugeot has a long history and began manufacturing cars in 1889 with a steam driven three-wheeler after Armand Peugeot met with Gottlieb Daimler and was convinced of the future possibilities. With continuing successes, Armand broke away from the family firm and created S.S. des Automobiles Peugeot. In 1903 Peugeot added motorcycles to its vehicle line and subsequently produced half the cars built in France. It also racked up numerous racing victories, including two wins at Indianapolis between 1916 and 1919.

Unfortunately, the First World War forced it to emphasize production on arms and when automotive production resumed, the cycle division separated from the car division, forming its own company.

Peugeot was able to acquire Citroen in the 1970s from the French government. With continued growth, it also took over the European division of Chrylser. These acquisitions led to financial trouble for the company however. While trying to cut losses, all brands suffered decreased sales due to a lack of emphasis on style.

In 1976, Peugeot formed the PSA Groupe with Citroen and later purchased the Vauxhall and Opel brands. PSA merged with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in 2021 to create the Stellantis corporation.
