PROS: This is a great car to drive and it looks good and comes with loads of equipment.
CONS: The 335i Sport Plus is an expensive car to buy and the SE version is cheaper and still includes a good amount of kit. The suspension is uncomfortable.
The 335i Sport Plus has a 306bhp engine delivering 295 lb-ft of torque at 1200-5000 rpm and reaches 0-62 mph in 5.4 seconds with a limited top speed of 155 mph.
The suspension is still a little firm but the 335i is a blast to drive on B-roads. Its chassis is superb and the rear-wheel-drive set up makes for great driving feel and balance. BMW really do know what they're doing when it comes to handling.
The 3 Series Coupe and comes with a great amount of standard equipment. The Sport Plus coupe comes with leather seats, metallic paint, power steering, stability control, cruise control, climate control, alloy wheels, stereo, MP3 connectivity, rear parking sensors, Bluetooth and satellite navigation as standard.
The 3 Series Coupes have lots of room in the driving seat, with good adjustment on the seat and steering wheel. The iDrive system is much easier to get to grips with than before and all the controls of angled towards the driver, with perhaps the only downside being how many generic looking buttons and controls there are for the stereo.
BMW have a very good track record when it comes to reliability and the 3 Series Coupe should prove reliable.
Safety kit includes six airbags, Dynamic Stability Control inclusive of ABS, corning brake control, dynamic break control and dynamic traction control. An optional extra is the Active Security Package (with lane changes and lane departure-warning systems), with an alarm as standard. It was awarded the top five star rating in the Euro NCAP crash tests, too.
The coupe has loads of room in the front and back, with plenty of leg room. The boot is of reasonable size too, if a bit awkwardly shaped, with a capacity of 440 litres and the option to take down the split-folding rear seats to extend the space.
The 335i Sport Plus is a great car and whilst it is expensive at £41,820, you're getting a lot of car for your money.
Diesel engines will always outclass petrol engines in terms of running costs, but the 335i is still a great deal. The standard SE model is much cheaper though and still comes with loads of kit without the uncomfortable sport suspension.
The 335i should also benefit from very strong residual values.
