A new Norfolk-based manufacturer by the name of Trident has revealed its new Iceni sports car, which is claimed to be the fastest and most fuel-efficient car of its type in the world.
Revealed alongside two other new models -- the Magna fastback and the Venturer estate -- the Iceni is available to order now in limited numbers, with prices starting from £96,000.
Underneath the Iceni's retro-inspired bodywork, which bears more than a passing resemblance to some TVR models -- there's a 6.6-litre V8 turbodiesel engine which in standard form produces 424bhp and 950lb-ft of torque. Mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox, the Iceni is capable of getting from 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds and on to a top speed on the windy side of 190mph.
Oddly, though, the Iceni's performance is not the car's party piece. Nope, that'd be the fact that Trident claims the Iceni will return up to 108mpg, giving a theoretical range of 2,000 miles on an 84-litre tankful of fuel.
To achieve this, you'll need to be cruising at a constant 30mph in top gear, with the V8 ticking over at just under 1,000rpm; however, Trident claims that a combined economy figure of 68.9mpg is on the cards.
Inside, the Iceni features leather trim, sports seats, air-con, electric windows and a DAB radio with Bluetooth. Buyers also have the choice of four optional upgrade packs -- a Track Pack, Performance Pack, Lux Pack and Premium Pack -- which cost between £2,700 and a whopping £30,875.
Trident claims that there is already a waiting list for the Iceni.
