Mazda is a Japanese automotive manufacturer well known for creating good value cars which offer a refreshing change from the European norm. Thanks to cars such as the legendary MX-5 and the rotary-engined RX-8, Mazda has carved out a niche in the market, and won itself a great many admirers in the process.
The Mazda2 is Mazda's offering in the supermini market. Launched in 2003, Mazda gave the 2 a thorough upgrade in 2007. Small, compact, efficient and surprisingly good to drive, it's an excellent little car and a good choice for those looking for a second-hand supermini.
The Mazda3 was launched in 2003 to replace the old 323 which, incidentally, is still a very popular car on the used market. The 3 was a huge improvement on the 323 and was designed to go head-to-head with the Ford Focus and the VW Golf. It offers better value for money than most of its rivals in the medium-family car class and comes with a good amount of standard equipment, making it a popular choice for those looking for a good value second-hand family car.
The Mazda6 was introduced in 2002 to replace the 626 and is one of the most competent cars in the large family car class. Refined, good-looking and astonishingly good to drive, the 6 is extremely well-priced which makes it a good choice to buy new, and an excellent choice to buy used.
The Mazda MX-5 is quite simply one of the best cars ever made. It's been around since 1989 and, thanks to major revisions in 1998 and again in 2005, it is still the best-handling small roadster out there. It's also extremely reliable which makes it an excellent choice on the second-hand market and, frankly, the best small roadster of them all.
The Mazda CX-5 is Mazda's entry into the small crossover market. And it's brilliant. Thanks to a range of ultra-efficient engines and a lightweight bodyshell, the CX-5 is extremely fuel efficient, making it a good choice for used car buyers looking for a crossover that's cheap to run.
