Ashes to Ashes fans have until Sunday 16 November to bid for DCI Gene Hunt’s iconic Audi Quattro from the cult TV series.

The BBC are putting the car up for online auction for raise money for its Children in Need charity appeal, which airs on BBC1 this Friday.

The Audi Quattro was launched at the 1980 Geneva Motor Show, the same year the BBC launched Children in Need. The red 1983 example used in Ashes to Ashes is powered by a turbocharged five-cylinder petrol engine, and has undergone a major restoration by Audi UK to ensure it will be in tip-top condition for its new owner.

DCI Hunt, aka actor Phil Glenister, said: “If you want to fire up the quattro, first you have to fire up your wallets!" The star has also signed the car to give it added appeal to Ashes to Ashes fans.

You can bid for the Quattro via the BBC Children in Need eBay shop, with the auction running until 9pm on Sunday 16 November.
