Volkswagen has revealed a new Kombi Last Edition to celebrate the end of 56 years of Kombi production in Brazil.
We told you last year that Volkswagen would be pulling the plug on the Kombi 56 years after the first models rolled off the production line in Brazil and, frankly, we were mildly astonished that VW were still building the ancient van, at all.
The Kombi Last Edition is Volkswagen's way of paying tribute to the venerable old van and will be produced in a limited production run of just 600 units.
All models will feature two-tone white and blue body paint and each example will come with a numbered identification plaque on the dashboard. Whitewall tyres, white centre wheel caps and tinted rear windows are also fitted as standard.
On the inside, The Last Edition gets blue fabric curtains and curtain fasteners, blue and white vinyl upholstery and MP3 compatibility is also included.
The Kombi is powered by a 1.4-litre watercooled (hence the large black radiator grille) engine which develops 77bhp if you run it on petrol and 79bhp if you choose to run it on ethanol. A four-speed manual gearbox comes as standard.
We're big fans of the old VW bus, and it's modern-day equivalent, the California, here at CarSite.co.uk so we're glad to see it getting a proper send-off. Unfortunately, however, the Last Edition will not be available in the UK.
