Volkswagen’s updated Golf SV has gone on UK sale priced from £20.475 on-the-road.
Aimed at family car buyers, the Volkswagen Golf SV features a higher seating position than hatch and estate models, as well as a sliding rear bench. At 2,670 mm, the Golf SV is also 50 mm longer than the Golf hatch and Golf Estate, enabling that sliding rear seat bench to be moved backwards by up to 180 mm.
The Golf SV is available with Volkswagen’s top level Discover Navigation Pro unit with pure glass 9.2-inch touchscreen. The standard Discover Navigation unit in the revised Golf SV is now an increased 8.0-inches, as is the Composition Media unit. As a result, all Golf SV model now have an infotainment touchscreen system of at least 8.0-inches in size, along with CD player, DAB radio, and Bluetooth smartphone pairing.
Revised exterior features include full-LED headlamp set up, relocated driver assist radar which is now concealed by the Volkswagen roundel, new bumpers at the front and the rear, and new diffuser trim.
Additional technology includes Emergency Assist, which attempts to awaken the driver if they become unresponsive and, if necessary, will bring the Golf SV to a complete stop with the hazard warning lights flashing. This is available on SE, SE Nav and GT trims. Park Assist 3.0 adds the ability to manoeuvre out of parallel parking spaces, while Trailer Assist joins the Golf SV tech line-up for the first time.
Two new colours are available - Cranberry Red and Reflex Silver – as well as four new alloy wheel designs.
Trim levels retain the same names, but joining the SE Nav and GT trims is a new 1.5-litre TSI EVO engine featuring Active Cylinder Technology. This means the engine will shut down two of its four cylinders to reduce fuel consumption whenever possible.
