The Alfa Romeo MiTo range has been expanded with the addition of two brand new trim levels, including a new entry-level model.

The Progression model now starts MiTo the range priced from £12,670, boasting air conditioning, leather steering wheel and gear knob, 15-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler, titanium grey light surrounds, and the Uconnect five-inch colour touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth voice recognition, USB connectivity, and steering wheel controls. It is also equipped with the Vehicle Dynamic Control package - which includes stability, braking, and traction controls with hill-hold – tyre pressure monitoring system, and seven airbags.

The MiTo Progression comes with a choice of engines, starting with the 78bhp 1.4-litre petrol engine, which now includes Start/Stop technology and offers a combined fuel economy of 50.4mpg. Euro 6 complaint, the engine produces 130g/km of CO2, goes from 0-60mph in 13 seconds flat, up to a top speed of 103mph. For £13,770 on-the-road, the MiTo Progression comes with the 0.9-litre TwinAir engine, a 105bhp turbocharged petrol power plant which increases fuel economy to 67.3mpg while CO2 emissions fall below the magic 100g/km mark to just 99g/km. A diesel engine option comes in the form of the 1.3-litre JTDM-2, which offers even more impressive figures. The 85bhp unit does 80.7mpg combined, with CO2 emissions of 90g/km, and is available in the MiTo Progression for £14,315 on-the-road.

The second new trim level, the Junior, adds to the equipment found on the Progression model with brilliant white finished 17-inch alloy wheels and matching door caps, front fog lamps, sports rear bumper, flat-bottom steering wheel with contrasting stitching, and satin-effect door handles, headlamp, and tail-lamp surrounds. In addition to the sporty looks, the MiTo Junior is further distinguished by exclusive Junior decals, upholstery, and floor mats. The MiTo Junior comes with a choice of two engines – the 105bhp 0.9-litre TwinAir turbo for £14,870 or the 85bhp 1.3-litre JTDM-2 turbodiesel for £15,415. With the reintroduction of the Junior moniker, the company hope to evoke the spirit of the original Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior which was launched in 1966 and whose small capacity engine made the marquee accessible to younger and larger audience.

Alfa Romeo revamped the MiTo range last year with improved standard equipment levels including the addition of the five-inch touchscreen infotainment system, subtle styling changes, and more engine options, and now the two new trim levels bring another fresh look to the line up.
