Teenage drivers have received a boost from Peugeot after the manufacturer lowered the minimum age for their renowned Just Add Fuel fixed cost motoring package to 18.

Advancement in telematic device technology has enabled the lion brand to open the scheme up to the under-21s for the first time since its launch five years ago, despite the 18-20 group being traditionally considered a high risk insurance category.

The Just Add Fuel programme sees insurance, servicing, road tax, and roadside assistance covered by a single monthly payment, while choice of taking a new car every three years eliminates the costs and worry of MOT tests.

The package open to 18-20 year olds allows them to drive away a new Peugeot 108 for a monthly rental of £248. A telematics device plugged into the On-Board Diagnostics port stores and sends data on driving habits via satellite, where it can be retrieved and reviewed by the driver by accessing an online portal. If the standard of driving falls below the level required a warning will be issued, with four warnings in a year resulting in the cancellation of the insurance policy. Other terms and conditions apply, including a requirement that the driver has no previous at fault insurance claims. The same Peugeot -  Just Add Fuel with telematics deal is also open to drivers aged 21-75 who have less than two years No Claims Discount or have held a full UK driver’s licence for less than two years.
