Skoda has announced that it has had to ramp up production of its Yeti SUV to meet public demand.

The UK is a popular market for the Yeti, with over 13,000 sold here in 2015. Last year was the Yeti’s most successful yet, taking overall global sales to more than 580,000 since the model was released seven years ago. Almost 62,000 Yeti’s have been sold so far this year, with over 14% of those being sold to UK customers.

The Yeti is currently produced in Skoda’s home country the Czech Republic and four other factories across the globe, but additional production capacity at the Skoda plant in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod will be utilised to keep up with demand.

Skoda’s production and logistics chief Michael Oelieklaus said, “We are delighted to be able to deliver as many ŠKODA Yetis to our customers in Europe as they wish.  By using the production capacities of another European plant within our international production network, we can respond satisfactorily to the high demand.”
