Only a little over a week ago Renault won yet another award for the acclaimed Scenic, and now the Twingo is also getting in on the action with a win in the City Car category at the 2011 Parker's New Car Awards.
This year's honour for Best City Car at the Parker's New Car Awards was given to the Twingo 1.2 16V Bizu. The Twingo Bizu limited edition has only been available to buy since January of this year, but it is already getting plenty of attention due to the fun driving experience it offers and its low running costs, impressive specifications, and affordable price.
This award can be added to a win in the last edition of Top Gear magazine, when it was rated as the best city car with a price tag under £8,000.
The popular Twingo range starts at £6,595 for the award winning Bizu 1.2 16V 75, and goes up to £14,500 for the Gordini 133, which has also won a great deal of praise. The Bizu comes with a wide variety of equipment that rivals many more expensive cars. This includes electric windows, remote central locking, 4x20W radio/CD/MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity, ISOFIX two point mounting on the left rear seat and front bumper sports styling.
Commenting on the Parker's New Car Award, which uses Parker's cost of motoring tool to choose the best value for money cars based on both the initial price tag and the running costs, the Editor of Parker's, Kieren Puffett said:
"The Renault Twingo 1.2 16V Bizu won the Parker's New Car Awards 2011 City Car category because not only is it perfectly suited to driving around town and thanks to its light steering is also easy to park and manoeuvre, but when it comes to costs the Twingo excels as an overall package. It has a very efficient 1.2-litre petrol engine that delivers an official average figure of 55mpg, sits in insurance group nine, has frugal servicing costs and thanks to very competitive pricing, has strong residuals. As an overall package, it's the City Car that makes the car buyers' cash go the furthest."
