The new car marks the most significant revision of the Camaro since the fifth-gen model was previewed by the 2006 Camaro concept at that year's Detroit Motor Show.
Under the bonnet, little has changed. Power comes from the same 6.2-litre V8 engine fitted to the existing Camaro, with the engine producing 426bhp and 419lb-ft of torque. Buyers can opt for either a six-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. In manual form 0-62mph takes 5.2 seconds for the coupe and 5.4 seconds for the convertible.
Chevrolet claims that the new Camaro features improved aerodynamics which provide more efficient cooling and stability at high speeds. The front fascia now has a wider lower grille and a narrower upper grille, while a new bonnet vent helps to both reduce heat and minimise aerodynamic lift.
On the inside, the Camaro gets leather Recaro sport bucket seats, a new colour heads-up display and Chevrolet's MyLink connected radio.
The new Camaro will be available across Europe from later this year, with UK prices starting from £35,320 for the coupe and £40,320 for the convertible.
