MG’s much-anticipated new SUV was unveiled at the London Motor Show in Battersea Park yesterday.

The UK-built MG GS will officially join the Longbridge-based manufacturer’s UK line up from next month. On launch it will be the first MG Motor UK product to be offered with an automatic DCT gearbox. Powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine, the MG GS will be available in three different trim levels.  Pricing and specification details will be announced closer to the model’’s June launch.

Matthew Cheyne, Head of Sales and Marketing for MG Motor UK, said: “When considering transmissions and engine choices, we listened to our customers and looked at market trends. It’s not only a momentous occasion to unveil our first SUV, it is also a significant moment to announce our first automatic – something many of our customers have been waiting for, and so we’re thrilled to be offering it to them.
