The first examples of McLaren’s new Sports Series have begun to roll off the Woking production line.

First to enter production is the McLaren 570S Coupe, which will be joined in the Sports Series family in 2016 by the 540C Coupe, with other additions to the range to be announced in the future. The first McLaren 570S to emerge from the state-of-the-art McLaren Production Centre in Surrey has already been delivered to a UK retailer, with worldwide orders for the new model having already topped the 1,000 mark.

The 570S Coupe is priced from £143,250, with the upcoming 540C Coupe to start from £126,000.  McLaren Automotive aim to more than double their annual output to more than 4,000 units per year by the time the Sports Series range is complete in 2018.

McLaren Automotive’s Sales and Marketing Executive Director Joylon Nash said, ‘The start of production of the new Sports Series cars is a pivotal moment for McLaren Automotive. In our short history, we have produced a range of supercars and hypercars targeted at a core, enthusiast buyer. Since 2011, our sales have increased year-on-year with corresponding developments in revenues and profits. The Sports Series is targeted towards a new buyer and opens McLaren up to the sports car market that we have not served to date.”
