The Mazda MX-5 has passed a historic milestone after the one millionth example of the iconic roadster rolled off the Hiroshima production line at the end of last week.

The MX-5’s success since it entered production 27 years ago has already seen it enter the Guinness World Record’s book as the best-selling two-seater sports car of all time.

To mark the achievement the one millionth car will appear at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed, alongside the Mazda MX-5 Speedster and Spyder concept cars. In addition, attendees at Goodwood’s Moving Motor Show will see the all-new Mazda MX-5 tackle the legendary Goodwood hillclimb on Thursday 23rd June.

Jeremy Thomson, Mazda Motors UK Managing Director “The MX-5 sits at the heart of Mazda’s brand and it embodies all that is great about our cars. Its fun to drive character has strengthened the bond between Mazda and its customers for more than a quarter of a century. The production of the one-millionth MX-5 is a landmark and it’s great that we can celebrate this with MX-5 owners and fans at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.”
